Built around the 19th century, this particular house is the biggest Chinese Mayor house in Bangka Belitung Islands. The building was firstly occupied by the second Chinese Peranakan mayor—who was appointed by the Dutch colonial—Tjoeng A Thiam who served in 1886–1895. The building is located near Muntok Harbour and Muntok River, located strategically to monitor the arrival and departure of people and goods. Most of the Chinese Mayor houses were courtyard houses built according to the style of the region where the mayor came from, such as Teo Chew and Guangzhou. This particular house was in Indische Empire style architecture, a hybrid of influences of Chinese and European architecture. In an area of approximately 62 x 62 meters, the mansion is a set of one main building, a separate kitchen, a supporting building, an additional separate toilet, and an open-air shed for wood stock. During this camp, there were 27 participants consisting of students and professionals from Indonesia (20) and Thailand (7).
